First Grade Notes--Week of May 9, 2011

  • We hope all of the moms had a great day!

  • This week's spelling words: funny, happy, story, stories, hurry, hurried, how, out, baby, done, any, pretty.

  • This week's high-frequency words: able, almost, blue, great, poured, traveled, took.

  • This week's robust words: arrived, familiar, properly, anticipate, numerous, vibrant.

  • We will also work on story details (the "who", "what", "when" and "where" in a story), verbs and changing the "y" to an "i" before adding -es, -ed, -er and -est.

  • For the remainder of the month, we will work on addition and subtraction (fact to 20 and adding & subtracting 2-digit numbers without regrouping).

  • Our field trip to the zoo will be on Thursday (barring severe weather). A note with details was in the Friday folder, so please read that carefully to know what to do on Thursday, and again, please be sure that your child is dressed for the weather that is to be on that day.

Have a good week!
